Sanayi Bölgelerinde Tasarım Bitkileri Kullanımının Ekolojik Açıdan Değerlendirilmesi: Gebze Örneği

Abstract

One of the precautionary measures to be taken against the adverse effects of industrial zones on the environment and social surroundings is
enhancing the number of green spaces. Green spaces that include various kinds of plant groups consisting of trees, shrubs, bushes, herbaceous
plants and groundcovers are effective on environmental problems with their fresh air improving, dust blocking and noise reduction functions.
In order to minimise the adverse environmental conditions created by industry, it is necessary to compose designs (particularly in planting
designs) that ground on the interaction between the industry and the ecological environment and to make appropriate plant preferences. This
study aims to offer suggestions about a kind of planting design in which the ecological elements are brought into prominence in industrial zones
besides providing space perception within ecological integrity. Therefore, most commonly preferred plants in design on recreational spaces and
in parks of Gebze, which is among the most important industrial zones of Turkey, have been studied considering their convenience with the
ecology and with industry originated adverse environmental conditions.
